Improving your English is a huge, important step towards both immigrating and integrating into Canadian culture!

#1 Think in English
Thinking in English will help you immensely in practicing and the beauty of this is that you can do it anywhere, anytime. If you start dreaming in English, then you know that you are really switching your brain into ‘English mode.’
#2 With a new relationship, use English immediately.
Canada is a diverse place and if you are in a major city like Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal, the vast majority of people speak 2 or 3 languages on a daily basis.
Interestingly, usually one relationship has one language and it all depends on which language you start speaking in.
Choose English and you will have the opportunity to have English-speaking friends who will help you to practice and have fun with!
#3 Join a language group!
All over the world, there are meetup where people go to practice speaking a language in a relaxed environment like at a café or a pub.

#4 Find a topic you like and explore it in English!
Are you interested in soccer? Travel? Cooking? Well, be sure to explore these topics in English rather than your first language and you will increase your English language ability quickly!
#5 Have fun!
Having fun and enjoying learning your new language is incredibly important. Language is a life-long learning process, so enjoy the new words and phrases you will learn and don’t stop enjoying and exploring your new language!
